Harvard-Kennedy Research Analysis Helps Counter Misinformation
The Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy at the Harvard-Kennedy School has developed an excellent resource for journalists and anyone seeking to understand the evidence behind the debate about the safety and effectiveness of fluoride. Citing a recently published article that falsely implicates fluoride among neurotoxins in children, this research review cautions readers – especially those covering the topic for journalistic outlets – to review the best available research and to avoid false balance – “he said, she said” characterizations – when representing objections to the ‘definitive’ science in support of fluoride and community water fluoridation.
