Area Dentists Help Thwart Roll-Back Attempt in Maine
Swift action by area dentists assured that the Kennebunk Board heard evidence on the safety and effectiveness of community water fluoridation (CWF) on July 8 when two local residents approached the Board with a request to place removal of CWF on the November ballot. The petition was ultimately withdrawn, but as many as seven towns serving 70,000 residents during summer months could have been effected. Eight dentists participated and are now putting a “sentinel system” in place in order to respond to other attempts to roll back this public health measure.
