Half of Arizona Children Experience Tooth Decay by their 4th Birthday
The Arizona Department of Health Services released data from a 2009 survey that not only do 52 percent of children have had tooth decay by the time they are four, but 30 percent of children aged two to four have untreated decay, a number that is twice the national average. The Board of Health is committed to decreasing these numbers through efforts such as community water fluoridation and oral health literacy.
